Origins of the Krieger Family.

1720

The Krieger family has been recorded in the city registers of Idar-Oberstein since 1720.
For generations, they worked in various crafts of the gemstone industry – from agate cutting and engraving to goldsmithing and diamond cutting. This heritage forms the foundation of our expertise today.

1900

During the 19th century, Idar-Oberstein transformed into an international centre for gemstones and jewellery. The Krieger family was part of this evolution and contributed to the region’s craft culture.

1935

Hans Johann Krieger founded the diamond-cutting workshop K. H. Krieger. After his early passing, Hans Dieter Krieger took over the company in 1964 at the age of 25. His expertise and eye for rare stones led to the creation of refined jewellery in diamonds and coloured gemstones.

1964

Hans Dieter Krieger recognised the potential of natural-colour diamonds at a time when they received little international attention. His conviction laid the foundation for the quality associated with the name Hans D. Krieger today.

1990

The manufactory continued to grow, marked by the establishment of an in-house casting facility that set new standards in precision and production depth. The diamond-cutting tradition was carried forward by Andreas Krieger, who completed his apprenticeship in 1996.

2014
