As a certified member of the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), Hans D. Krieger KG is committed to respecting human rights, complying with all relevant UN sanctions, resolutions and laws, and making no contribution to financing conflicts. With this policy, we commit ourselves to responsibly sourcing diamonds and colored gemstones and precious metals within our supply chains:

  • We respect human rights in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labor Organization as well as the Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work.
  • We do not accept bribes; we do not offer, promise, or demand them, and oppose any attempt at bribery or corruption. We are neither involved nor do we tolerate money laundering or terrorist financing.
  • We support the traceability and transparency of government payments and legally compliant security forces in the extractive industry.
  • We do not provide direct or indirect support to illegal armed groups
  • We enable both internal and external stakeholders to express concerns in the jewelry supply chain at any time and have provided an email address (compliance@kriegernet.com) for this purpose on our website. Any attempt to prevent or suppress concerns or complaints will be considered a violation of this Policy and will be punished accordingly.
  • We comply with the 5 points of the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas as well as the requirements of the Kimberley Process and World Diamond Council's System of Warranties.

  • We carry out an annual evaluation of our suppliers. If attempts to limit damage fail, we will either suspend or completely stop working with suppliers.

risk management

Bribery, corruption, fraudulent declarations of origin, money laundering, payment of taxes, fees and duties to governments

We are committed to using our influence to prevent misuse by others. We work with suppliers, central or local government agencies, international organizations, civil society and stakeholders to improve and monitor collaboration to completely prevent or mitigate risks and their negative effects through comprehensible and measurable steps within reasonable periods of time. We regularly carry out evaluations of our suppliers. If attempts to limit damage fail, we will either suspend or completely stop working with upstream suppliers

Serious violations

We do not purchase raw materials from conflict or high-risk areas and will neither tolerate nor benefit from the following actions:

  • Torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment
  • forced or compulsory labor
  • Worst forms of child labor
  • Human rights violations and abuses
  • War crimes, violations of international humanitarian law, crimes against humanity or genocide

We will immediately discontinue cooperation with upstream suppliers if we identify the reasonable risk or suspect that they are committing such serious violations or that they are purchasing from or associated with a party that is committing these abuses.

Direct or indirect support for non-state armed groups

We do not tolerate direct or indirect support for non-state armed groups through the mining, transportation, trade, handling, or export of minerals. We do not tolerate illegal control of mining sites, control of delivery routes, illegal taxation or extortion of money or intermediary suppliers. We will suspend or immediately terminate cooperation with upstream suppliers if we identify the reasonable risk or suspect that they are being supplied by a party or are otherwise associated with parties that directly or indirectly support non-state armed groups.

Public or private security forces

We strongly stress that the role of public or private security forces is to ensure the safety of employees, facilities, equipment, and property in accordance with the rule of law, including laws that guarantee human rights. We will not provide direct or indirect assistance to public or private security forces who commit abuses described under Serious Violations or act illegally.

Bribery, corruption, false indications of origin with fraudulent intent

We do not accept, offer, promise, or solicit bribes, and resist bribes to conceal or disguise the origin of materials, or to misrepresent taxes, fees, and royalties paid to governments for the purposes of extracting, trading, handling, transporting, and exporting gold, silver, or platinum.

Failure to comply with regulatory requirements in the area of environment and sustainability

Our suppliers must respect and comply with national laws, international regulations and recommendations from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the area of environment and sustainability when using natural resources. Should we identify violations in this area, we will do our best to improve the situation. If these attempts to limit the damage fail, we will suspend cooperation with the affected suppliers or immediately terminate them.

money laundering

We will support and contribute to efforts to eliminate money laundering when we identify a reasonable risk arising from or associated with the extraction, trading, handling, transportation, or export of diamonds and colored gemstones, gold, silver, or platinum.

Even if this Supply Chain Directive is translated into another language, only the German version of the Supply Chain Directive remains binding.
